338. Embossed Skull

Embossed Copper Sheet and Acrylic (9in x 11in [23cm x 28cm]). Thanks to my friend Jude who reminded me of this technique the other day. I had actually made a piece this way when I was in middle school: an image of an exploding volcano with a mirror in the lava! Sadly I believe it's long gone.

That is super awesome! What is this technique called? Do you know of a link explaining it?

By the way, I recently stumbled onto your blog, and I'm loving it every day. Thanks!

Wow! That is a neat technique. I have a large sheet of copper but I'm planning on using it for welding since it's 1/8", either that or it will be my retirement fund...

Melissa: The technique is just called embossing as far as I know. They sell kits at most craft store, but really you just need a thin sheet of metal and a stylus of some sort to work on it with. Here's one explanation of the technique I found.
